Speaking Confidence Starts Long Before You Step on Stage

A microphone exposes more than communication skills.

It exposes self-doubt, fear, insecurity, and the stories people quietly believe about themselves.

In this episode of The Superhuman Blueprint Podcast, Drew Griesel sits down with Jessica Dumas, professional speaker, speaker coaching expert, and entrepreneur, for a conversation about confidence, intuition, and building a life that actually feels aligned.

Jessica shares how she spent years feeling unhappy in jobs that looked successful on paper. She remembers sitting in her car crying before work because she knew something was missing.

Confidence Is Built Through Repetition

One of the strongest insights from the episode is that confidence building does not happen before action.

It happens after repeated action.

Jessica explains that she started practicing by volunteering, speaking at events, and eventually showing up consistently on social media even when almost nobody watched. Over time, the fear became smaller because the repetitions became normal.

That same process now shapes how she coaches entrepreneurs and aspiring speakers.

Speaking Is Really About Self-Belief

The conversation goes deeper than public speaking.

Jessica talks openly about low self-esteem, fear of visibility, and feeling unworthy of success despite knowing she wanted something bigger from life.

She believes many people already know what they want. The real challenge is trusting themselves enough to pursue it.

The episode also explores mindset coaching, intuition, and why many entrepreneurs struggle to ask for what they are worth. Jessica now helps women become more confident about getting paid to speak and charging higher fees for their expertise.

Small Decisions Quietly Change Everything

One of the more relatable parts of the episode is Jessica’s focus on small daily habits.

Better routines. Better self-talk. More honesty about the habits that sabotage progress.

She compares personal growth to fitness. If people lie to themselves about the small choices, the bigger goals never happen.

That idea applies to speaking too.

The people who eventually look confident on stage usually started scared, uncertain, and uncomfortable. They simply kept going long enough to grow into it.
