The Communication Mistake That's Costing You More Than You Realize | Brett Lavender | Ep. 91

Effective Communication Starts Before You Ever Speak
Think about the last conversation that really stuck with you.
Was it because the other person chose the perfect words?
Probably not.
Chances are, it was the way they carried themselves. They were calm. They were present. You trusted them. And that happened before they finished their first sentence.
That's one of the biggest ideas from my conversation with Brett Lavender on The Superhuman Blueprint Podcast.
When we think about effective communication, we usually focus on the words. Brett sees it differently. He argues that your words are only part of the message. The rest comes from things you're communicating without even realizing it.
The Part of Communication We Rarely Notice
One thing Brett said kept coming up throughout our conversation.
People don't just hear what you say. They feel it.
Your Tone of Voice, Non Verbal Cues, eye contact, facial expressions, even the state of your nervous system all shape how your message is received. Most of it happens below conscious awareness.
That's why two people can say the exact same thing and get completely different reactions.
The words didn't change.
Everything around them did.
Why We Get It Wrong
Most of us have been taught to improve communication by finding better words or building more confidence.
Brett believes that's backwards.
If you're stressed, distracted, or rushing, it leaks into the conversation. You speak faster. Your eyes wander. Your delivery softens. Without meaning to, you make your message harder to believe.
That's why Professional Communication isn't just about speaking well. It's also about learning to regulate yourself before you speak.
For anyone leading a business, a team, or even a family, that directly affects your Executive Presence and Leadership Communication.
